Rental Information — Set the Stage

MAIN THEATER: The intimate, yet grand 850-seat traditional proscenium theater with orchestra pit is state-of-the-art. Ideal for live theater, dance, concerts and recitals, the theater also offers a dramatic setting for business meetings, lectures and more. Great sight lines from every seat allow audience members to feel connected to the action on stage. Backstage boasts the region´s largest fly tower, counter-weight fly lines, and stage traps. The theater is equipped with the latest technology; from the digital sound board to the computerized lighting and dimming system by ETC, to the slinky-type orchestra pit lift. Specially designed acoustic clouds in the ceiling and a super-quiet air conditioning and heating system guarantee perfect sound. A basic tech package is included in the rental fee. Additional fees for security, insurance, cleaning, box office and technical services may apply.

SMALL THEATER: News-Journal Center´s 250-seat studio theater is a thrust-proscenium hybrid. The proscenium hides 28 counter-weight fly lines and movable baffles to close the opening arch down for smaller productions. The stage literally thrusts into the theater´s seating area allowing the audience to surround it. This space also has a trapped floor, a wire tension grid allowing for greater lighting flexibility, and the latest in theater sound and lighting technology. This venue is perfect for chamber concerts, small theatrical productions and children´s theater as well as lectures, meetings and presentations. A basic tech package is included in the rental fee. Additional fees for security, insurance, cleaning, box office and technical services may apply.

LOBBY AREAS: Looking for a spectacular location for your next event? With panoramic vistas of historic downtown Daytona Beach and the Halifax River, this architectural jewel provides the ultimate setting. Whether you´re planning a formal gala for 750 or an intimate gathering of your closest friends, the multi-level glass-enclosed atrium offers the ideal backdrop for your group. Rental fees include use of the catering kitchen and range from $250 to $2500. Additional fees for security, insurance, cleaning, box office and technical services may apply. Call for details.

STUDIOS: Need a place for your next business meeting that is wired with the latest in communication technology? News-Journal Center´s large rehearsal studio and two smaller studios are ready to meet your corporate needs. If you suddenly feel the urge to break into dance, the studios feature sprung wooden dance floors, two walls of mirrors, plus storage. These spaces may also be used for small venue performances. A basic tech package is included in the rental fees, which range from $100 to $250.

CATERING KITCHEN: The News-Journal Center´s catering kitchen is conveniently located on the main floor of the facility and offers prep space, triple compartment sink, refrigerator, commercial dishwasher and an ice maker. Kitchen Rental fee: $125 per event.

PARKING: Limited, on-site parking is available, including handicapped spaces. A convenient driveway and drop-off circle is located at the main entrance of the facility. Valet parking and shuttle services are offered during events; please call for rates.
